Manchester City’s Profit Pursuit: Kalvin Phillips Transfer Saga Unfolds

Manchester City is adamant about turning a profit in the potential transfer of midfielder Kalvin Phillips, as per reports. The Premier League champions are demanding approximately £50 million ($61m) for the struggling midfielder, reveals The Mirror. Phillips, 27, was acquired from Leeds in the summer of 2022 for an initial fee of £42m ($52m), indicating the club’s anticipation of making an £8m ($10m) profit from his sale. Despite his significant price tag, Phillips has struggled to secure a spot in City’s first team since joining the Etihad Stadium.

In his debut season with Pep Guardiola’s team, Phillips made only 12 Premier League appearances, starting just two of those matches. This season, he has been featured in three top-flight games, all as a substitute. Despite his challenges, Phillips has attracted interest from several clubs. Liverpool, Newcastle, and Bayern Munich are reportedly considering January offers to lure him away from City.

As City prepares to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, Phillips is expected to remain on the sidelines.
