Ahead of West Ham’s upcoming match against Bournemouth, manager David Moyes has issued a warning to Manchester City, stating that their bid for Lucas Paquetá is “not close enough” to meet the club’s valuation. Despite reports suggesting that the Brazilian midfielder has agreed to a six-year contract with Manchester City, Moyes revealed that the offer put forward by the Manchester club has been turned down.
Addressing the situation, Moyes stated, “We’ve had an offer from Manchester City, but at the moment it’s not anywhere near meeting our valuation.”
In terms of figures, Manchester City’s bid is believed to be approximately £74 million (€85 million/$93 million) with potential add-ons. In contrast, West Ham’s valuation of the player stands around £95 million (€110 million/$121 million), with no inclusion of bonus clauses. This valuation discrepancy is significant and underscores the gap between the two clubs’ assessments of the player’s worth.
West Ham’s resolute stance is bolstered by their earlier success in securing a substantial fee for their captain, Declan Rice, who departed for pastures anew earlier in the summer transfer window. With this strong financial position in mind, the Hammers are steadfast in their approach to negotiations surrounding Lucas Paquetá, a key asset in their midfield.
