Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has recently hinted at the possibility of Ansu Fati returning to the Catalan club’s fold, despite the winger’s stint at Brighton on loan. Fati faced exclusion under Xavi’s tenure at Barcelona last season, despite his notable achievement of scoring double-digit goals for the Blaugrana. Despite this, the club sanctioned his temporary departure, leading to his loan move to Brighton, amidst serious interest from Manchester United for a permanent transfer.
In an interview with RAC1, Deco expressed confidence in Fati’s future at Barcelona, emphasizing that the young player’s time at Brighton provides him with valuable experience and regular playing opportunities. Deco stated, “Of course Ansu Fati can return here, he’s on loan to Brighton. He’s young, he’s happy now. I think Brighton was a good choice to play regular football, we’re following his progress. It’s up to his performances. But Ansu could return to Barca, for sure.”
During the summer transfer window, numerous clubs showed interest in acquiring Fati’s services. Manchester United was prominently linked, alongside Spurs and Chelsea, who also reportedly made contact regarding a potential permanent move for the talented winger. Meanwhile, following Fati’s departure, Barcelona secured Joao Felix on loan, seemingly as a replacement with the prospect of a long-term transfer to Catalonia.
Despite missing out on selection for Luis de le Fuente’s recent Spain squad, Fati is poised to make a comeback for Brighton following the international break. He is anticipated to be in contention for their upcoming fixture against Nottingham Forest.
The speculation surrounding Fati’s future at Barcelona continues to gather momentum, with Deco’s remarks suggesting that a return to the Blaugrana remains a plausible scenario.
