Arsenal Pursuing Ivan Toney Amidst Financial Challenges

Arsenal is eyeing a £60 million ($73 million) deal for Ivan Toney from Brentford to bolster their attacking prowess, but reports suggest the club needs to make a significant sale first. Mikel Arteta, keen on reinforcing the team’s offensive capabilities, has targeted the English striker, who is currently serving a ban until January 16 due to a breach of the FA’s betting regulations.

The Mirror indicates that although Toney’s contract with Brentford expires next summer, the club is demanding a hefty £60 million fee for his services in the January transfer window. While Arsenal possesses the financial means for the deal, they must adhere to Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, necessitating player sales before June 30.

Emile Smith Rowe has caught the attention of Newcastle United, with Arsenal setting a price tag of £50 million ($62 million) on him. Additionally, players like Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson could be put up for sale to generate necessary funds.

In the broader context, Arteta has also expressed the need for a high-quality winger to provide cover for Bukayo Saka. However, their primary target, Pedro Neto, comes with a substantial price tag, possibly leading Arsenal to explore loan options. Furthermore, it appears unlikely that Wolves would be willing to part ways with Neto in the January window.
