Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has urged his Argentina teammate Paulo Dybala to join the club, saying he wants to have a barbecue with him in west London. Fernandez is the latest Chelsea player to call for Dybala to move to the club, after Thiago Silva said he would be a “massive signing” for the Blues.
Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s new manager, is said to be considering a move for Dybala, who is available on a free transfer after leaving Juventus at the end of last season. Dybala has responded to the speculation by insisting that he is happy at Roma, but Fernandez is not giving up hope of persuading him to join Chelsea. “I hope he comes,” Fernandez told Ole. “I talked to him and told him that I’m waiting for him to share a barbecue or something. I need one to share the mates, heh.”
Chelsea are in need of reinforcements in attack, and Dybala would be a significant upgrade on their current options. He would also be a good fit for Pochettino’s style of play, which is based on possession and attacking movement.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be able to convince Dybala to join them, but Fernandez’s comments suggest that they are serious about making a move for him.
