Mario Bittencourt, the president of Fluminense, has outlined Liverpool’s path to secure a deal for midfielder André Trindade. Liverpool expressed interest in the Brazilian midfielder following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, prompting CEO Billy Hogan to make contact.
In an interview with ESPN, as reported by O Globo, Bittencourt confirmed that there is an existing agreement with André and his representative for him to stay until the end of the year. He emphasized their commitment to honoring this agreement, saying, “We are fully committed to this arrangement.”
Regarding Liverpool’s interest, Bittencourt stated, “Liverpool’s Chief Executive reached out to me directly. I responded by saying, ‘My friend, I’m not looking to sell players at the moment, nor am I willing to transfer anyone right now. If you’d like to discuss a potential deal for January, we can start those conversations. Alternatively, if you prefer to wait until December, we can explore the option then.'”
In a broader context, it’s worth noting that Fluminense had previously rejected Liverpool’s €30 million (£25 million) offer for André, particularly after Liverpool missed out on acquiring Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both ended up at Chelsea. However, there seems to be a willingness on Fluminense’s part to consider a transfer once the current season concludes at the end of the calendar year.
