Fulham has surged ahead in the race to acquire Fluminense midfielder Andre, leaving behind Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool. Despite the keen interest from both United and Liverpool in the 22-year-old, Fulham, as reported by the Evening Standard, has taken the lead in securing Andre’s signature. A £30 million ($37m) move has been discussed during talks between Fulham’s chief executive, Alistair Mackintosh, and Fluminense in Brazil. If Fulham manages to secure Andre, it would mark a significant triumph for the club, considering the competition from Manchester United and Liverpool.
Manchester United has eyed Andre as a potential replacement for Casemiro, who has faced challenges with form in his second season at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Liverpool had previously reached out to Fluminense regarding Andre in the summer, being informed that he would stay until the year-end, with discussions for a possible transfer slated for December.
Andre played a pivotal role in Fluminense’s historic Copa Libertadores victory against Boca Juniors, earning them a spot in the upcoming Club World Cup alongside European champions Manchester City. With the Brazilian season set to conclude early in December, Andre appears poised to make his move to the English Premier League.
Despite Fulham securing Silva with a new three-year contract and fending off interest from Saudi clubs, they are expected to support their manager in the transfer market, displaying a strong commitment to bolstering their squad.
