Manchester United’s goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has made a move to join Championship side Sunderland, shortly after a collision with Wrexham’s Paul Mullin during a pre-season friendly match.
Following the unfortunate challenge that resulted in Mullin sustaining a punctured lung, the young shot-stopper has left Manchester United to sign a three-year contract with Sunderland. The club officially confirmed this transfer on Wednesday, though the exact fee remains undisclosed.
The incident occurred during the 12th minute of the pre-season friendly match between Manchester United and Wrexham in the United States. The collision was deemed accidental, leading to Mullin requiring immediate medical attention, including the use of an oxygen mask. He was subsequently substituted and taken to a hospital for further treatment. Presently, the striker is recuperating at the residence of Wrexham’s club co-owner, Rob McElhenney, in Los Angeles.
This move marks a significant change in Nathan Bishop’s career, as he seeks a fresh start at Sunderland following the incident and his departure from Manchester United.
