Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich Transfer: The True Story Behind the £82 Million Deal

Bayern Munich’s former president, Uli Hoeness, has clarified that the club did not pay £100 million ($122 million) for Harry Kane, contrary to previous reports. The actual fee for the transfer was £82 million ($100 million). Kane, the England captain, left Tottenham during the summer transfer window to embrace a new challenge away from his familiar surroundings in north London. While Bayern did secure Kane as their record signing, the transfer amount was lower than initially stated. Hoeness explained to BR24 that the club spent only 95 million euros to sign Kane, which translates to £82 million ($100 million).

Additionally, there are potential add-ons in the deal that could increase the overall price in the future. Kane’s exceptional performance for Bayern, including nine goals in 10 appearances, might trigger some of these clauses. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has mentioned that the club retains a buy-back option for Kane if he decides to return to England and pursue Alan Shearer’s all-time goal record. However, Kane’s potential return may not be a straightforward process. He will have the chance to bid farewell to Tottenham when he visits their Enfield training base during the October international break.
