Injuries and Challenges: Ten Hag’s United Faces Trials with Confidence

Erik ten Hag’s position as the manager of Manchester United is secure for the foreseeable future and is not a matter under consideration for the club’s executive team.

Despite a disappointing start to the season, marked by six defeats in 10 games, including a 3-2 loss to Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday, Ten Hag continues to enjoy strong support from the club’s leadership. The Guardian has learned that the hierarchy firmly believes that the Dutchman is the right manager to guide the team forward in the long run.

Although Ten Hag has never publicly cited injuries as an excuse for United’s poor performances, internally, it is recognized that he has faced a particularly challenging situation. At one point, the team was without 16 players, including new signings like Rasmus Højlund, the £64m striker, who arrived with a back problem, and Mason Mount, a £55m summer recruit, who sustained a hamstring injury in the second game of the season.
