Kepa Arrizabalaga has openly discussed his future plans while on loan at Real Madrid, expressing his desire to extend his stay with the Spanish giants rather than returning to Chelsea once his loan period concludes.
In a recent interview with Juanfe Sanz of El Chiringuito TV, the 29-year-old goalkeeper shared his contentment, stating, “Yes, I’m very happy here. Who doesn’t want to stay at Real Madrid?”
This revelation comes after Kepa’s move to Madrid, a late summer transfer prompted by an ACL injury to Thibaut Courtois, the Belgian goalkeeper, which will likely keep him sidelined for the majority of the 2023/24 season. Reports from SPORT indicate that Chelsea might consider letting Kepa go for a fee of around £21 million ($26 million) in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s team is keen on negotiating the fee to be below £15 million ($18 million) if they decide to make Kepa’s stay permanent.
Looking ahead, Kepa’s future at Chelsea appears uncertain, especially with the club securing Robert Sanchez as his replacement and rumors linking Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale with a potential move. Kepa’s current contract with Chelsea is set to expire in 2024, prompting Chelsea to seek a suitable transfer fee for their initial £69 million ($85 million) investment, even if it means parting ways with him and not to the Bernabeu Stadium.
