Man City’s Kyle Walker, has reportedly reached an agreement to join Bayern Munich, the reigning champions of Germany, despite earlier indications that he would sign a new contract with Manchester City. Bayern Munich has been actively pursuing Walker for some time, and although he previously dismissed the rumors by expressing his desire to stay at Manchester City and engaging in contract talks, it appears he has had a change of heart. According to Sky Sport Germany, the 33-year-old defender has now “reached a verbal agreement with the club” and is prepared to sign for Bayern.
Since his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester City in 2017, Kyle Walker has played a significant role in Pep Guardiola’s highly successful team, contributing to their five league titles and their recent triumph in the Champions League. However, it seems that Walker is now seeking a fresh challenge, and the speculated £15m ($19m) move to Bayern presents an ideal opportunity for him to secure a guaranteed place in the starting lineup. It is possible that his 27 league appearances last season were not enough to satisfy the experienced right-back.
Walker’s potential move to Bayern could create an opening for Benjamin Pavard, the French right-back. Reports suggest that Pavard is being targeted by several clubs, including Manchester United, and Bayern has set a price tag of £27m ($33m) for the 27-year-old French international, indicating the possibility of his departure.
