Lukaku Shifts Course: AS Roma Loan Move Emerges as Juventus Option Fades

Reports indicate that Romelu Lukaku is poised to decline Juventus’ offer and instead, he’s set to join AS Roma, led by Jose Mourinho, for a season-long loan deal from Chelsea. The ongoing saga surrounding Lukaku’s transfer has taken an unexpected twist as he has opted out of a potential move to Juventus. The Telegraph has disclosed that discussions are now underway for Lukaku’s temporary move to Roma for the upcoming season. This abrupt shift in Lukaku’s decision has prompted Chelsea to reassess their approach. Contrary to their previous stance of pursuing a permanent transfer, they are now open to the idea of allowing Lukaku to depart on a loan basis.

Looking at the broader scenario, Lukaku’s dissatisfaction stems from what he perceives as prolonged negotiations by Bianconeri officials. Consequently, he has reconsidered his plans to relocate to Turin. The finer details of this evolving agreement are currently being settled; however, it appears that the prospect of a purchase option within the contract is slim. Notably, Juventus did put forth a proposal involving a £30 million ($23.5 million) payment from Chelsea along with Lukaku being transferred to Turin in exchange for Dusan Vlahovic. However, Chelsea turned down this proposition from the Italian club.
