According to sources at ESPN, Manchester City is in the process of preparing their initial bid for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, following talks with the Bundesliga side. While an official offer has not yet been submitted, City has received encouraging signs that the 21-year-old Croatian center-back is interested in making a move to the Etihad this summer, provided the right fee can be agreed upon. RB Leipzig values Gvardiol, who is highly regarded, at €100 million ($109 million). However, it is expected that City’s initial bid will be significantly lower, as negotiations unfold.
RB Leipzig Sports Director Max Eberl confirmed that Gvardiol and his representatives have expressed the desire for a transfer to Manchester City, stating to Leipziger Volksnachrichten newspaper, “We are in talks with Manchester. There is nothing more to say about it at this moment.”
In the meantime, Manchester City awaits formal bids for several first-team players before making any decisions about their futures. Interest has been shown in the likes of Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, Kalvin Phillips, and Kyle Walker, but the club has yet to receive any formal approaches.
As negotiations progress and transfer activities unfold, Manchester City’s pursuit of Josko Gvardiol will be closely watched. The club aims to bolster their defensive options with the promising young center-back while also navigating potential transfers for their other first-team players.
