Manchester United Eyes Gabriel Barbosa

In January, Manchester United is contemplating a move for Gabriel Barbosa from Flamengo, a deal that could involve Antony heading in the opposite direction. The Mirror reports that Barbosa, whose contract with Flamengo concludes in December 2024, has emerged as a prime target for Erik ten Hag’s squad. The Brazilian striker could be secured for around £20 million ($24.7 million) during the upcoming transfer window. As part of the agreement, Antony, who has faced challenges this season, might be loaned to the Brazilian outfit.

Looking at the broader context, Barbosa is eager to make a mark in European football after a disappointing stint with Inter Milan, where he scored only one goal in 10 appearances after joining from Santos. Manchester United is expected to face competition from AC Milan for Barbosa’s services in the winter transfer market.

Manchester United has grappled with attacking issues throughout the season, with Marcus Rashford, who scored 30 goals in the previous season, finding the net just once for United in the current campaign. Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Martial have each scored once, and Rasmus Hojlund has managed three goals.
