Chelsea’s Pochettino Takes Charge In Transfer Decision-Making

Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his desire for a more influential role in Chelsea’s upcoming transfer activities. Despite substantial spending by new co-owner Todd Boehly, the Blues have faced a challenging start to the season. With just one Premier League victory and a 14th-place standing, 13 points behind league leaders Manchester City, Pochettino believes changes are necessary.

During the summer, Chelsea’s signings were overseen by co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, while Pochettino took on the role of head coach. The club’s initial focus was on recruiting younger players, but there’s now a possibility of bringing in more experienced talents during the January transfer window.

Pochettino emphasized the importance of his improved relationship and communication with the sporting directors and owners. He informed reporters, “After the transfer window closed, I made it clear that I need to have a more active role in decision-making. I’ve started working on identifying our needs for January.”

Acknowledging the dynamic nature of football, he highlighted the need for adaptability and mentioned ongoing efforts to strengthen the team’s goal-scoring abilities and defensive stability, specifically mentioning the recovery of players like Nkunku and Armando Broja.

Despite recent struggles, Chelsea aims for a positive outcome in their upcoming match against Fulham on Monday.
