Thiago Silva has chosen to remain tight-lipped amid speculations linking him to a potential return to Brazil and his former club, Fluminense, once his stint with Chelsea concludes. Despite celebrating his 39th birthday in September, the experienced defender has not yet determined when or where he will hang up his boots.
In response to queries about his future, Silva told Globo Esporte, “This relationship has been going on for a long time, right. But I prefer to remain silent at this moment, as there has already been some controversy in the recent past. I now have a family, I have children. So we have to think about this aspect too. It’s about seeing where things can bring us happiness, to finish this beautiful and successful career that I believe I have achieved.”
Silva’s existing contract with Chelsea runs until the end of the season, leaving his future with the club uncertain. Despite his advancing age, he continues to be a pivotal player under Mauricio Pochettino, having featured in all of Chelsea’s Premier League matches this season.
The next chapter in Silva’s career will unfold on Saturday as he takes the field for Chelsea in their upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
