Chelsea’s Kudus Attempt Fails Due to Low Offer Strategies

Mohammed Kudus’ representative, Jen Mendelewitsch, disclosed a failed negotiation with Chelsea that involved what she deemed a “ridiculous” offer, causing the Blues to lose out on the midfielder. Despite interest from various clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea swiftly pursued Kudus and agreed on personal terms with the player. However, their bid of £17 million to Ajax was promptly rejected.

Mendelewitsch claimed that Chelsea employed a similar strategy with several players, diverting their focus to negotiations with Brighton for Moises Caicedo. She stated, “We reached an agreement with Chelsea, we agreed the contract with Chelsea but the deal was not done. He talked with the coach but in the end, it didn’t happen because Chelsea made a ridiculous offer to Ajax. There was no counter offer.” According to her, Chelsea’s attention was monopolized by the Caicedo transfer, leaving little room for other deals.

In the broader context, Mendelewitsch revealed that Kudus’ profile was also presented to PSG before he ultimately secured a £38 million move to West Ham in the summer. Despite Kudus’ eagerness to depart, PSG opted not to proceed. Mendelewitsch acknowledged the clubs’ right to prioritize other players, stating, “Every club has the right to decide that they go to another profile or that it is not their priority.
