Chelsea Secures Djordje Petrovic as Goalkeeping Addition After Departures

Chelsea has finalized the acquisition of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, successfully securing him from New England Revolution. The confirmation of Petrovic’s arrival came on Saturday, following Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Luton Town on Friday evening. The 23-year-old’s transfer comes after an impressive record of 48 appearances for his former team in Major League Soccer.

Petrovic’s addition to the Chelsea roster ushers in competition for the coveted No.1 goalkeeping position at Stamford Bridge, an honor he shares with Robert Sanchez. This development follows the departures of Edouard Mendy and Kepa this summer, who have both left the club. The financial aspects of this transaction reportedly amount to a comprehensive package valued at £13.5 million ($17 million).

In Petrovic’s own words, as conveyed on the club’s official website, “I’m so happy to be at Chelsea and I’m really excited to get started at this club.”
