Arsenal Set to Terminate Nicolas Pepe’s Contract as Besiktas Move Looms

Nicolas Pepe, the Arsenal player who has fallen out of favor, is on the verge of departing the club to join Besiktas. Arsenal is making preparations to terminate his contract despite it running until 2024. Pepe does not feature in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the current season, prompting the club to end his contract a season ahead of schedule. This move will enable the 28-year-old to accept Besiktas’ offer and become a free agent, as reported by L’Equipe. The report also mentions that Pepe is presently undergoing a medical examination in Paris before officially accepting the Turkish club’s proposal.

In a broader context, Pepe spent the previous season on loan at Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, where he managed to score only eight goals in 28 appearances. Upon his return to Arsenal, he did not play a significant role in the club’s pre-season training and was omitted from the squad for any of the four Premier League games played thus far. Initially, the Ivory Coast international turned down Besiktas’ offer earlier in the summer transfer window, but he is now prepared to make the move to the Turkish Super Lig, where he will have another chance to rejuvenate his career.
